Cost-effectiveness of Helicobacter pylori screening and treatment for gastric cancer in Hong Kong: a decision analytic approach.

چکیده
2. A decision analytic framework and a societal perspective were adopted. The least costly and non-dominated strategy was H pylori serologic testing, followed by treating those positive for H pylori, with no follow-up testing. Its incremental cost-effectiveness ratio was US$20 547 for men and HK$26 840 for women per life year saved or Cost-effectiveness of Helicobacter pylori screening and treatment for gastric cancer in Hong Kong: a decision analytic approach

Using Stool Antigen to Screen for Helicobacter pylori in Immigrants and Refugees from High Prevalence Countries Is Relatively Cost Effective in Reducing the Burden of Gastric Cancer and Peptic Ulceration
OBJECTIVES Refugees and immigrants from developing countries settling in industrialised countries have a high prevalence of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Screening these groups for H. pylori and use of eradication therapy to reduce the future burden of gastric cancer and peptic ulcer disease is not currently recommended in most countries. We investigated whether a screening and eradication a...
متن کاملHelicobacter pylori and gastric cancer: what are the benefits of screening only for the CagA phenotype of H. pylori?
BACKGROUND Strains of Helicobacter pylori that express the CagA protein are associated with a threefold increased gastric cancer risk as compared to H. pylori strains that do not express CagA. Screening and treatment only for CagA antibodies should target those individuals at highest gastric cancer risk while reducing the number of patients requiring antibiotics. We compared the costs and benef...
متن کاملClinical and economic effects of population-based Helicobacter pylori screening to prevent gastric cancer.
BACKGROUND Helicobacter pylori infection has been identified as a risk factor for certain types of gastric cancer. However, the extent to which H. pylori eradication decreases the risk of gastric cancer is unknown, raising the question of whether population-based H. pylori screening should be undertaken. OBJECTIVE To compare clinical and economic effects of H. pylori screening, with and witho...
متن کاملIdentification of pathogenic microRNAs in Helicobacter pylori-associated gastric cancer using a combined approach of animal study and clinical sample analysis.
Gastric cancer is the fourth most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Helicobacter pylori is estimated to infect at least half of the world’s human population. The attributable risk for both intestinal and diffuse types of gastric cancer conferred by H pylori is approximately 75%.1 Only a few studies have addressed the role of miRNAs in inflammatory or ...
متن کاملAntibacterial activities of Galla rhois extracts against Helicobacter pylori infection
In this study, a medicinal plant, Galla rhois (GR), was examined and screened for its anti-Helicobacter pylori activity. Galla rhois was extracted with 70% ethanol. Inhibitory zone tests, as in vitro assays, and an in vivo study using a Mongolian gerbil (Meriones unguiculatus) model were performed. The safety of the GR extract was then evaluated in an animal study. The Galla rhois extract demon...
